Ashes

An electromagnetic pulse rips through the sky, killing billions of people instantly and leaving most young people turned into zombies. Only a few have been spared.

I like the idea of zombies, but when it all comes down to it, they are gory and dirty and super creepy. I picked this book up, got sucked in, and almost put it down halfway through because the zombie scenes are so brutal and graphic and realistic and horrifying.

At the same time, the book is fascinating. The characters are well developed and you root for Alex, the heroine, and the people she meets along the way. The book ends on a HUGE cliffhanger and there better be a sequel somewhere in the world soon, because I’m dying here.
