I loved this book from the first page. I don’t know what it was; the story pulled me in completely.
Gaia Stone is the daughter of a midwife and has been learning the trade. She lives in a world outside of a society called the Enclave. The Enclave demands the first three babies each month to be delivered inside the walls, and it is Gaia’s job to do so.
One day Gaia comes home to find that her parents have been taken away for questioning inside the Enclave. She is forced to function in a world with rules she doesn’t understand and finds a strength she didn’t know she had.
I loved that this was a dystopian world. I loved that Gaia is a girl who stands up for what she believes in and doesn’t take the easy world or apologize for herself. I loved that this book is the first in a trilogy so that I don’t have to leave Gaia yet. There is more of her story to come.
